About Us

London College of Islamic Studies is a centre of traditional Sunni learning where students can study the Islamic sciences with qualified scholars. LCI provides students with the opportunities to study Islamic sciences based on classical texts, but at the same time incorporating latest advances in human knowledge. Students can simply study the basics of their religion, or progress to graduate as certified Imams, preachers or scholars.

Safwan ibn ‘Assal reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said,

“No one leaves their house in search of knowledge but that angels will lower their wings in approval of what he is doing.”

  Ibn Majah

Our Teachers

Our teachers are qualified scholars who have spent years studying and teaching the Islamic sciences in the traditional manner of face-to-face teacher and student.

At LCI, we believe that Islamic knowledge is not just academic learning but a journey of spiritual transformtion... a journey to Allah.

Islamic History

At LCI, we believe that connecting Muslims with our long and glorious heritage is a vital part of reviving and strengthening our faith and understanding our current situation.

We regularly run short and long courses on the history of Islamic civilisation and have published a unique and highly praised textbook on the history of Islam and the West, especially aimed at our younger generation of age 13+.

Portents of Judgement Day

We have been at the forefront of research which aims to shed light on the reality of some of the greatest mysteries that have faced generations of Muslims through the centuries. These mysteries relate to the Quranic and prophetic descriptions of apocalyptic events that will take place towards the End of Time and the appearance of strange entities, such as the Antichrist, the Beast, and Gog and Magog, who will have a huge impact on all human beings living during those times.

Evidence that Sayyida Aisha Was Over 15 Years Old at Marriage

Although the widely-cited hadith states that Aisha was nine years old when her marriage to the Prophet (upon him be peace) was consummated, this is contradicted by strong historical evidence. Tabari, the famous historian and hadith expert, states that Aisha was born at least fifteen years before the marriage was consummated, and both early prophetic biographers, Ibn Ishaq and Ibn Hisham, mention that Aisha was amongst the earliest converts to Islam, once again making her much older than the ‘six-nine’ reports indicate, and corroborating Tabari’s opinion.

Exposing the Kharijite infiltration of the blessed Muhammadan nation

Shaykh Dr Ridhwan ibn Saleem argues that the Kharijites (Khawārij) are the earliest and most dangerous deviant sect in Islam, characterized by a paradoxical combination of extreme outward piety and a "toxic" doctrine of takfeer—the practice of declaring fellow Muslims to be unbelievers. The author’s central thesis is that Kharijism is not merely a historical phenomenon that disappeared centuries ago, but a persistent "menace" that has infiltrated the modern Muslim community. In this book, he exposes the Kharijite groups within our midst today...

A Sunni Perspective on ISIS and The Situation in The Middle East

This landmark paper, published in 2019, addresses one of the most consequential misrepresentations of our time: the false identification of ISIS and similar militant factions with orthodox Sunni Islam. Grounding his analysis firmly in Quranic injunctions and prophetic hadith, Shaykh Ridhwan argues that these groups are not Sunnis at all, but rather the modern manifestation of the ancient Khawarij — a deviant sect condemned by the Prophet ﷺ himself, whose defining marks include the making of takfeer against fellow Muslims, the shedding of Muslim blood, and a rigid, intolerant reading of scripture that bypasses the scholars and the transmitted tradition.
