This webinar accompanies the launch of the textbook, History of Islam and the West.
The webinar will be led by the author of the textbook, Dr RIdhwan ibn Saleem. Teachers from Muslim schools, madrasas and parents of home schoolers are all welcome to attend.
This webinar will provide a general introduction and guidance for teachers and parents who intend to teach this course or use the textbook in their classes.
There will be plenty of time for questions that teachers may have.
Webinar programme:
- 10-11am – Introduction to the textbook and the naming and dating of the major historical periods under study
- 11.05 – 12pm – Adressing some common Eurocentric biases and myths
- 12 – 12.20 – break for dhuhr prayer
- 12.20 – 2pm – Overview of the major periods under study: Prophetic & Rashidun period (622-661); HIgh Caiphate (661-1066); Middle Period (1066-1500); Gunpowder Period (1500-1707); European Age (1707-2000)
